Favorite Examples in the Wild
April 1st, 2006 - Terrell RussellWe’ve now been watching claimID in the wild for just over a month. A few people in particular have caught our eye in the way they’re using claimID to manage their own online identity.
Brian Benzinger - Solution Watch - post about claimID
We’ve written about Brian before and his coverage of our beta launch. We would be remiss without mentioning him again here. And love that new layout, Brian. Very nice.
Michael has the distinction of having a very non-unique name. He has used the Not Me / Not By Me categorization of claimID to point out that he’s none of those other guys. Michael gets it.
Pretty much all Google results for “Stowe Boyd” are him. Not exactly our average use case. Hi Stowe!
Ottmar Liebert - Site - post about claimID
Ottmar has also posted about claimID and sent a bit of traffic to us. We love the mindfulness bell!
Alex has actually taken the unusual step of pointing his domain root to his claimID page - go ahead, click on alexm.org. We thought through most things we’ve seen people do with claimID - but not this one. Makes us feel confident we’ve hit upon something that really resonates.
Patrick Cormier - Information Management Now
Patrick has gone out of his way to collect a great many resources about himself and the things he is involved with here at claimID. He was also the first person we noticed using his claimID page to vouch/speak for him in a public space that wasn’t his own blog.
Derek Punsalan - 5ThirtyOne - post about claimID
Derek has written a great post on his blog about claimID and sent quite a bit of traffic our way. Thanks Derek.
Dawn has amassed quite a collection of links about herself here at claimID. This is exactly the kind of proactive use we envisioned when building claimID.
And, it’s her birthday today! Happy Birthday from claimID!

[...] Awhile back I wrote a post about claimID. Today I was again checking my referrals and found a link from the claimID blog. They wrote to me asking if they could use my page as an example of how people could use claimID back in February. Can read what they wrote here. They even wished me a Happy Birthday!! How cool is that. [...]

this is indeed a good post. while i found claimid useful, it gives me more ideas on how others collect, organize, categorize and present/package information relevant to them.

[...] If you’re not a search person, skip the rest of this. It might be misleading. You may misread it for cynicism or think I am being negative. Please leave now and don’t allow yourself to be so deceived. But if you understand search, what the heck is ClaimID? Third party links page a-la Bruce Clay circa 2001, but executed overtly and as a business model? Bottom feeding on people with very unique names, who think this is the answer to their SEO/PR problem, and listing the faithful as “favorite examples in the wild“? Look at those names…Brian Benzinger, Stowe Boyd, Ottmar Liebert, Alex Muntada, Patrick Cormier, Derek Punsalan. It doesn’t get much more unique than some of these. They cna rank themselves with a small handful of links… internals even! It’s not like their non-web offline citizens… these are all bloggers! Link bait sure, but as a company? Building a community of followers, sure, but ones who could be enlightened with a pen light? At first I thought it was a back door way to build a resume site, but there are too many blog posts, dutifuly commented by The Creators, for a bait ‘n switch like that. This is a pea grean and light blue, rounded-corner grab at something for sure. But what? [...]

[...] claimID - Claim your Web Identity Have you ever done a Google search for your name and not been at the top of the results, or wished that you could change the order of the results. i.e. have the most relavant or latest sites and stories about you at the top? Well then claimID is for you.claimID allows you to create a page listing all your web identities, so you would add your blog, your del.icio.us links, stories about you, articles written by you etc. Anyone then, including yourself, doing a Google search will find you. The “you” that you want to represent on the web. You can order and group the links as you wish.clamID also allows you to add links that are not about you. i.e. if there is another person out there with the same name as you, you could add their blog etc. So if a potential employer was searching for you, they would know that those links are not yours. The site is currently in private beta, but thats to Inside the Net, you can register without an invite by clicking this link. link to my claimID pagesee some favorite examples in the wild on the claimID blog [...]
