10,000 people have claimed their online identity
November 20th, 2006 - Terrell RussellThis past weekend, claimID passed a milestone that’s cause for a little celebration.
ClaimID now has over 10,000 verified accounts.
We’re very excited by our own recent growth and the growing general interest in online identity. We’ve seen more and more people talking about OpenID, Heraldry, and MicroID. The identity space is moving rapidly from newborn to toddler and we’re very pleased to be a part of it all.
For those of you who haven’t looked at your own accounts in a while, it might make sense to revisit them now - reevaluate, refresh, reorganize. We think there are a whole lot more people coming soon - and they’ll be looking at yours to see how it’s done.
We’d like to thank each and every one of our 10,000 account holders, our early testers, and our friends. It’s truly humbling to know you’ve each taken some of your time and spent it here. Please, keep the feedback coming and we’ll perhaps see you at the next milestone - even sooner!

Terrell and Fred,
Great news! Congratulations. As we are learning, 10,000 users is no small feat and an excellent milestone to achieve. I look forward to the day that ClaimID and Naymz is battling to hit that millionth sign-up. Keep up the great work!

[...] Though if you don’t have a very uncommon name you will also find suff about other people sharing the same name with you. I guess in some cases you won’t be too happy if other people confused you with the lunatic dancing naked in the streets of London. Also keep in mind that many human resources directors already query for potential candidates on the web.Search engines cannot make the distinction between people so you have to find a way to tell other people who you are. One way to do so is registering an account with ClaimID. I have discovered this service yesterday because their new blog entry appeared on Megite. [...]

I really love this site…it makes it so easy to help others narrow your online identity and remove any confusion. Those of us with somewhat common names can stand out professionally and not get confused with others.
One suggestion, though, if I may on functionality. Many blogs and communities allow you to upload a photo and have it resized automatically. Your tool requires an image to be hosted elsewhere and sized exactly. Any plans to automate that process? I highly recommend implementing that!
